Our team of doctors is surrounded by our Surgical Care Team and Patient Service Team who also share the same commitment and dedication to providing you and your family with a legacy of exceptional care. Our oral and maxillofacial surgeons have undergone extensive training, including a four-year dental school curriculum, surgical internship and oral and maxillofacial residency. Some of our oral and maxillofacial surgeons have also received other degrees, including medical doctor (MD).
Dr. Steven P. Quinn joined the practice in 1989. He grew up in Springfield and attended Westminster College in Fulton, Missouri, completed his dental education at University of Missouri School of Dentistry, Kansas City, and his Oral Surgery Fellowship at Gundersen Medical Foundation – Lutheran Hospital, LaCrosse, Wisconsin where he was Chief Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He also has comprehensive training in dental implants, outpatient anesthesia, facial reconstructive surgery and surgery and treatment, dentoalveolar surgery and exodontia. Dr. Quinn is a fellow in the Academy of Osseointegration, past president of the Greater Springfield Dental Society, a diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
Dr. Quinn has been an active member of the Springfield community. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Boys Scouts of America and is currently a scout leader, he has also been on the Board of Directors for the American Red Cross Tissue Bank, and the Children’s Dental Health Chairman for the Greater Springfield Dental Society.
Dr. Quinn’s interests include music, hunting and spending time with his family. He is married to Linda Quinn and has two children.
Dr. Thomas A. Collins, JR. joined the practice in 1993. He grew up in Springfield and attended Southwest Missouri State University where he majored in pre-med. He acquired his dental education at the University of Missouri School of Dentistry, Kansas City and completed his Oral Surgery Internship and Residency at Chandler Medical Center, University of Kentucky, Lexington. Dr. Collins, Jr. furthered his education with a Fellowship in Advanced Facial Reconstructive Surgery at Louisiana State University Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana and also a Fellowship in Oral and Facial Cosmetic Surgery at the Institute of Facial Surgery, Murray, Utah. Dr. Collins, Jr. is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the Greater Springfield Dental Society, a diplomate of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Academy of Cosmetic Surgery.
Dr. Collins, Jr. is an avid sportsman with interests that include hunting, competitive sporting clays, wildlife and land management, upland bird hunting, fly fishing, snow and water skiing. He is married with two children.
Dr. J. David Gipson joined the practice in 1997. He grew up in Bolivar and attended Southwest Baptist University. He completed his dental education at University of Missouri School of Dentistry, Kansas City where he received the Dean’s Academic Achievement Award. Dr. Gipson received his Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his General Surgery internship as well as his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship and residency as Chief Resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center with extended training in traumatic and cosmetic reconstruction of the face. Dr. Gipson is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the Greater Springfield Dental Society, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Greene County Medical Society, American Medical Association, American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, and serves as head of the Dental Section at Cox Hospitals.
Dr. Gipson enjoys running, coaching sports and spending time at the lake with his family. He is married to Julie Gipson and has six children.
Dr. George E. Arquitt joined the practice in 2002. He grew up in Stillwater, Oklahoma and is a graduate of University of Tulsa where he graduated with honors. He completed his dental education at University of Oklahoma and received his Doctor of Medicine from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed his General Surgery internship as well as his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship and residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he served as Chief Resident for two years. Dr. Arquitt is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, Greene County Medical Society, American Medical Association, Missouri Medical Association, American Dental Association, Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater Springfield Dental Society. He is a board certified Fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dr. Arquitt is an active member of Trinity Presbyterian Church where he has served as a deacon and elder. He enjoys bicycling and snow skiing. He is married to Dr. Carrie Arquitt, a pediatric dentist, and has two children.
Dr. Christopher M. Meyer joined the practice in 2007. He grew up in St. Louis and attended Truman State University, Kirksville, Missouri. He completed his dental education at University of Missouri School of Dentistry, Kansas City and received his Doctor of Medicine from University of Missouri School of Medicine. He completed his General Surgery internship as well as his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery internship and residency at Truman Medical Center, University of Missouri-Kansas City. Dr. Meyer is a member of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Midwest Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the Missouri Medical Association, the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater Springfield Dental Society.
Dr. Meyer’s interests include fitness, playing with his children and family time. He is very involved with his children and soccer. He also loves the lake and boating. He is married to Heather Meyer and has two children.
Dr. James T. Shaner joined OMS in 2021 after leaving active military service. He was born and raised in Farmington, MO, where he graduated as valedictorian of Farmington High School, and completed his undergraduate education at the University of Missouri earning degrees in both Biology and History, summa cum laude. He completed his dental education at the University of Missouri – Kansas City where he was a US Army Health Professions Scholarship Program recipient. Following graduation, he entered active military service as a US Army Captain and did a short tour as a general dentist at Ft. Stewart, GA, just outside of Savannah. He then completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in suburban Washington, DC, which included extensive exposure to maxillofacial trauma, orthognathic surgery, and complex implant reconstruction. He was promoted to Major during residency. After graduation, he was transferred to Ft. Bliss, TX where he served as an attending surgeon and eventually assistant program director for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program at William Beaumont Army Medical Center. He was also the OMS mentor for the Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency program at Ft. Bliss.. Following the end of his military commitment, totalling 11 years on Active Duty, he and his family were excited to return home to Missouri and join OMS Group. His primary clinical interests include orthognathic surgery, facial trauma surgery, dentoalveolar surgery, and dental implant surgery. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the American Dental Association, the Missouri Dental Association, and the Greater Springfield Dental Society.
Dr. Shaner is married to his high-school sweetheart, Michelle DuMontier, and has two children. After 11 years of frequent moving with the Army, they’re excited to settle down and make Springfield their permanent home. In his off time, Dr. Shaner enjoys cooking, golf, and spending time with his family.
